With this tour we are going to sail to the discovery of the Riviera dei Ciclopi, a nook of the Ionian coast where ancient myths and natural formations blend together.
The Riviera dei Ciclopi is the coastline that goes from Aci Castello to Acireale. Unique and irregular black lava rocks characterize the volcanic formation of the coast. The homeric myth of Odysseus and Polyphemus gives the name to the Riviera.
The tour starts at Catania’s harbor, as we begin sailing we’ll pass by the old harbor of Ognina to reach the ancient lava caves “Grotte di Ulisse”. We will proceed towards Aci Castello, a town characterized by the “Castello di Aci”, a fortress built on a promontory made of basaltic stratifications of ancient lava flows. Our last stop will be in Acitrezza, a small beach town known for “Faraglioni”. These big basaltic rocks formations are the first evidence of our volcanic edifice, and are also related to the Greek tales of Odysseus. The tour will be concluded with a fun and relaxing snorkeling experience in our crystal clear water. Snorkeling equipments will be provided for you.
